it's a trend worthy of attention that when i experience a feeling which might reasonably be described as "anxious," it usually traces its roots down to my widest-spanning fear, which is failure, and that when i experience a different feeling which might reasonably be described as "depressed," (if it isn't "anxious" in a mask and trench coat, which it is a surprising amount of the time) it usually traces its roots down to my deepest fear, which is perpetual loneliness.
since i first made this observation, i have been finding it to be an extremely helpful analytical shortcut. it helps me to get closer to understanding exactly what i'm dealing with.
