merely human

in the deepest, most destructive pain, there is no nobility. not really. there may be a determination, a decision, to act in integrity, but in the core of the pain, one desire exists, and that is for the pain to end. so even when a heart that has been torn to shreds knows that it will come back stronger, it is small comfort in the face of the present pain, no matter how valuable the outcome.
