whew! ok. i'm really sorry... i hate posting so many different things all in one night. it feels unfair to the posts because they all have to share the attention, and unfair to you, because you'll probably want to sit down and read the whole thing. my reasoning was that they're all pretty related. in fact, it was only after i was well into the writing process that i realized there was enough for several posts rather than just one.
