sfftmom: the death room--the traitors

At the door, Albus felt his thestral buck, refusing to go any farther.  As he dismounted, he found himself looking into a large, rectangular room that resembled a wizard courtroom.  A green potion bubbled up from the doorway and, like a waterfall, fell down four stone tiers, which led to an emerald lake at the floor.  Rising out of the lake stood a dais, on which towered an enormous ancient-looking archway with a black curtain, ripped in half from top to bottom. In front of the archway--Albus tensed up with fear--hovered three Dementors.
Snape looked deep into Albus’ dark green eyes.  Then, breaking his gaze, he conjured a rowboat out of the air and stepped inside.  Holding out his hand, he helped Albus into the boat.  Together, they floated over the first tier, using the boat’s oar for stability.
