As Snape and Albus turned down one of the last aisles, Albus surveyed the scene. The people of this section were evidently being subjected to a great deal of pain; it was obvious in their faces, body language, and unbearable screams. The odd thing was that these people showed no physical signs of harm at all.
“Potter, here are souls who have practiced false forms of alchemy, counterfeited money, impersonated others or spread falsehoods. Take this man.” Snape pointed to a tall man with fair hair. “Barty Crouch Jr., who impersonated the Auror Mad-Eye Moody for an entire year in order to make your father vulnerable to the Dark Lord. Now these are all subject to the worst of the Unforgivable Curses: the Cruciatus Curse.”
Anxious to get away from the suffering of the souls in the Hall of Prophecy, Albus urged his thestral on. Soon, the thestrals brought the two travelers to a black door at the end of the hallway.
